Govt. College Chowari, a constituent college of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla established in the year 1994, is the hub of education. College is recognized under section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956. It is placed in the serene and picturesque lap of nature and the splendid beauty of Basodan Pass. Being centrally located it provides easy accessibility to students from different areas of Bhattiyat valley and adjoining District Kangra. The college believes in imparting quality education and commitment to service towards mankind through the luminary ideal of The Goddess Saraswati. Having made a mark on the educational horizon of the Himachal Pradesh University, our college strives to create an environment conducive to continuous academic, co-curricular activities and holistic development of students as well as staff members.

The Govt. College Chowari is situated amidst the most idyllic surroundings, with the backdrop of celestial and splendid beauty embraces the serine beauty of Pines and Deodar trees. This college came into existence in the year 1994 as an outcome of the relentless and indefatigable efforts of local people. Since its existence, the college is growing progressively in all spheres of life including academics, cultural and sports activities. The majority of the students in this college are girls who comes from the far flunged areas of the particular region. In the very beginning of the prospectus, I would like to salute all those middle class people who dare to send their daughter to attain education in the college, as this region is highly tough terrain for living. As we know that the main obset of education is to enrich and incorporate socio-cultural, political & economic features among the new generation, in this initiation Govt. College Chowari always try to groom the students in different spheres of life. For overall development of the students, this college always try to provide them equal opportunity, so that they can achieve their goals and destinations. I would like to pay my heart-felt gratitude to all the parents of students who have shown their commitment and zeal to send their wards to attain higher education.
